I can see why Newtown locals frequent Carminuccio’s. Is it for the specialty pies or the killer grinders? Both actually! I met a couple there on a Friday night around 7pm and surprisingly we just walked in were seated without quickly. They recommended the Spinach Special (Pesto pie topped with mozzarella cheese, sautéed spinach, roasted garlic, and roasted tomatoes) It was delicious! They use a gas oven so it really can’t compared to the true New Haven style pizza but for a gas oven it’s damn good.
They also boasted about the sandwiches so I was forced to order a chicken parmesan grinder. The grinder was the best chicken parm grinder I’ve had in a while. My friend had the steak grinder in addition to pizza and that looked very appetizing as well.
Tip: Try a grinder.
